Reason behind Shreyas Second Date of Birth

Shreyas Iyer 2nd Date of Birth in his Instagram Bio

Team India's T20I captain has updated a "Second Date of Birth" on his Instagram account. However, Shreyas Iyer's actual date of birth is December 6, 1994. Fans were left puzzled after noticing the new date and started asking what it meant. The date he added was 25/12/2025, and it quickly went viral on social media.

Reason behind Shreyas 2nd DOB

There is a special reason behind this date. During the ODI series against Australia in October 2025, Shreyas suffered a serious injury. The incident occurred while attempting to take a catch, and he collapsed on the field, leaving everyone shocked. Later, reports revealed that he had sustained a spleen injury that caused internal bleeding. Doctors initially believed it would take a long time for him to recover.

However, surprising everyone, Shreyas made a much faster recovery than expected. He returned to domestic cricket and represented Mumbai. Not only that, he delivered an impressive performance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, earning his place back in the Indian team. He then went on to enjoy a successful IPL season as a captain. Because he picked up the bat again on December 25, 2025, many fans believe Shreyas considers that day his "second date of birth," which is why he added it to his Instagram profile.

Meanwhile, after leading Punjab brilliantly in the IPL, Shreyas has now been entrusted with the captaincy of India's T20I team. Fans are eager to see how he performs in his first assignment as the national captain. His outstanding leadership record in the IPL is one of the main reasons the selectors handed him the responsibility. In addition, his excellent batting form is another positive sign for Team India.

India won the 2024 T20 World Cup under Rohit Sharma's captaincy, and in 2026, Suryakumar Yadav led the team to another T20 World Cup title. With Shreyas already having an impressive record as a captain, fans are hopeful that he can guide India to yet another T20 World Cup triumph in 2028.

Shreyas will begin his journey as India's T20I captain with the series against Ireland, where India will play two T20Is. After that, India will face England in a five-match T20I series. That series is expected to be the first major test of Shreyas Iyer's captaincy.
