Team India star batter Sanju Samson has been in the news almost every day for one reason or another. After his impressive performances in the recently concluded T20I series against Afghanistan, Sanju Samson is once again trending. Meanwhile, Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir’s comments about Sanju Samson have become a hot topic, particularly his remarks about dropping Samson from the T20 squad for the England series.

Gambhir said that leaving Sanju Samson out of the team during the England tour was one of the toughest decisions of his coaching career. Although everyone is aware of Samson’s talent and he had been named Player of the Tournament in the T20 World Cup, Gambhir said that leaving him out was an extremely challenging decision. He also said that Samson must have been deeply disappointed at the time.
Gambhir further stated that everyone knows about Sanju’s ability and, therefore, nobody can question his talent. However, he explained that a player’s current form also has to be taken into consideration, and sometimes such difficult decisions have to be made.

Gambhir also spoke about Vaibhav Suryavanshi, describing him as a very talented player. He said that not being selected for the playing XI on certain occasions does not mean that a player has been completely overlooked. He revealed that they had spoken to Vaibhav and told him to wait a little longer for his opportunity. That is why, he said, the team wanted to continue with the combination that played in the World Cup.
Gambhir added that if a batter fails in two or three matches, it does not mean that the player has suddenly lost their skills. He reiterated that everyone knows about Vaibhav’s talent and that he too will get opportunities in the future. As a result, it appears that Vaibhav may not get an opportunity in the upcoming Asian Games either.
Meanwhile, Sanju Samson could also feature as an opener in the Asian Games. Getting back into form ahead of such a major tournament could provide an additional boost to the team. With Samson now in good form, Vaibhav may have to wait a little longer for his opportunity.
