There is good news for fans of wonder kid Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Although he has made his international cricket debut, he has not yet played a single match on home soil. However, that wait could soon come to an end. Reports and speculation about Vaibhav getting an opportunity in the fourth T20I against West Indies, scheduled to be played in Hyderabad on Wednesday, October 14, have become a hot topic on social media.
Although the team management has not made any official announcement on the matter, Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s latest Instagram post has sparked further excitement among fans. The youngster shared a few photographs of himself with the caption, “Stay seated.” This has led to speculation about whether Vaibhav has hinted at his selection for the fourth T20I or whether the post was simply a promotional move by his PR team.

It appears that the photographs shared by Vaibhav are not from a recent practice session. By the time he posted them, the Indian team had arrived in Hyderabad, but Team India had not yet begun its practice session. Therefore, it is possible that Vaibhav shared pictures from net sessions during an earlier match. However, the caption “Stay seated” has certainly raised fans’ hopes.
Sanju Samson opened the innings in the first three T20Is against West Indies. Although he failed to make an impact in two matches, he scored a half-century in another. Against this backdrop, speculation is growing that Vaibhav could replace Samson in the playing XI for the fourth T20I.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi made his international debut during India’s tour of England. On that occasion, the team management left Sanju Samson out and included Vaibhav in the playing XI. However, after Vaibhav failed to deliver the expected performances in his first three matches, Samson was brought back into the side.
India subsequently toured Zimbabwe. Since Sanju Samson was not part of the squad for that series, Vaibhav played in all three matches. He performed brilliantly and was named Player of the Series.
After the Zimbabwe tour, India played a T20I series against Afghanistan on home soil. However, Vaibhav did not get an opportunity to play in any of the matches. Later, during India’s tour of Japan, the team played a single T20I, but Vaibhav was once again left out of the playing XI.

However, Vaibhav Suryavanshi got an opportunity to represent India at the 2026 Asian Games. He featured in both the semifinal and the final. Sanju Samson was also part of the squad during the tournament.
Currently, Vaibhav has once again been confined to the bench in the ongoing T20I series against West Indies in India. Sanju Samson opened the innings in the first three matches. Despite struggling in two games, he managed to score a half-century in one of them.
Against this backdrop, cricket circles are abuzz with speculation that the team management could experiment with the playing XI for the fourth T20I, potentially giving Vaibhav Suryavanshi an opportunity.
If that happens, Hyderabad could become the venue for Vaibhav’s first-ever international match on Indian soil. However, the final decision will rest with the team management ahead of the match, and no official confirmation regarding his selection has been announced yet.
