A key update has emerged regarding Jasprit Bumrah. It appears that the Indian team management has devised a special workload management plan for him. The plan reportedly focuses exclusively on Test cricket, with Bumrah being advised to stay away from the other formats for a while. This means he could remain absent from ODI and T20 cricket for the next few months.

According to the latest information, the team management is planning to ensure that Bumrah is fully fit before India's upcoming two-match Test series against New Zealand. There are also reports that he could play at least one match for India A before the Test series. Bumrah may feature in the third match for India A. Since the Test series will begin shortly after that match, the BCCI reportedly believes that it would provide him with valuable match practice ahead of the series. The idea is that playing competitive matches is essential to assess his full match fitness rather than returning directly to international cricket without adequate preparation.

Furthermore, Bumrah is reportedly expected to miss the white-ball series against New Zealand scheduled for November. The BCCI is believed to be planning to restrict his participation to the Test series alone. As a result, Bumrah is expected to play only two matches during this extended tour of New Zealand. Team India is scheduled to play two Tests, five ODIs, and five T20Is on the tour. Therefore, Bumrah is likely to miss all the ODI and T20I matches.

Before travelling for the tour, Bumrah is also expected to visit the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for routine fitness assessments.

In addition, Bumrah is reportedly likely to miss the subsequent series against Sri Lanka. This is because India will then host the Border-Gavaskar series. With the series set to take place on Indian soil this time, Team India will be eager to avenge its defeat in the previous series. As part of this strategy, Bumrah is expected to focus exclusively on Test cricket over the next four months.

Any captain would want a player like Bumrah in the team, regardless of the format. However, it remains to be seen how India will manage to defeat New Zealand in the white-ball series without such a key player.
