South African cricket legend AB de Villiers turned back the clock with a spectacular batting performance in the Legends League Cricket arena. In a match against Australia Champions during the 2026 World Championship of Legends (WCL), de Villiers stunned everyone by smashing a century off just 37 balls.
Even though it has been more than eight years since he retired from international cricket and he last played in the IPL in 2021, de Villiers has once again proved that his explosive batting ability remains as dangerous as ever. Remarkably, the former star is now 42 years old.

Batting first, Australia Champions posted a formidable total of 209 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to impressive contributions from D'Arcy Short, David Warner, and Joe Burns.
However, de Villiers made light work of the 210-run target. Coming in at No. 3, he unleashed a brutal assault on the Australian bowlers, scoring an unbeaten 111 runs off just 40 balls to guide South Africa Champions to a magnificent victory. The highlight of his innings was reaching his century in just 37 deliveries.
De Villiers attacked the opposition bowlers with extraordinary power, sending the ball soaring over the covers, long-off, long-on, and deep mid-wicket regions. His sensational innings featured six fours and 11 massive sixes.
De Villiers also received excellent support from opening batter Richard Levi, who smashed 62 runs off just 29 balls. Thanks to de Villiers' devastating assault, legendary South African batters such as Faf du Plessis and JP Duminy did not have to work too hard to finish the match.
South Africa Champions chased down the target in just 15.2 overs to secure a convincing victory.

This is not the first time de Villiers has dominated the tournament. In the 2025 edition of the WCL, he scored an astonishing 429 runs in just six matches, finishing as the tournament's leading run-scorer with a remarkable strike rate of 220. During that campaign, he also recorded three centuries and one half-century.
Recently, de Villiers remarked that Virat Kohli was at the peak of his career at the age of 37. In a similar fashion, the 42-year-old de Villiers has once again entertained cricket fans and demonstrated that he remains the one and only 'Mr. 360', capable of producing extraordinary performances even at this stage of his career.
