Head Coach hints Sai Sudharsan will bat at No. 3.

After two months of intense cricketing action, Team India is set to return to Test cricket. The BCCI has already announced the squad for the Test match against Afghanistan, which is scheduled to begin on June 6. The Indian players have also been training hard in preparation for the match.

In this context, head coach Gautam Gambhir recently provided some clarity regarding the playing XI. Speaking at a press conference, Gambhir hinted at the No. 3 position in the batting order. He indicated that Sai Sudharsan is likely to bat at that spot.

Gambhir said that Sai Sudharsan has not been given enough opportunities so far. He also mentioned that Sai's Test debut took place in England, where he did not perform as expected. However, one performance cannot define or diminish his talent and skill. That is why the team management wants to give him more opportunities. Gambhir further pointed out that everyone witnessed the number of runs Sai scored in the recently concluded Indian Premier League, which is why the team is backing him. The head coach added that they hope he can carry the same form into Test cricket as well.

Gambhir also stated that team selection often involves making difficult decisions. Sometimes, certain players have to be left out of the playing XI. However, that does not mean those players are incapable or not good enough. He explained that if the team wants to provide fair opportunities to all players, such tough decisions become necessary.

The Indian coach also spoke about the new rules introduced by the International Cricket Council. He said that he had been waiting for a rule like this and believes such changes could help produce results more quickly in matches. He added that these kinds of decisions are important because they give every team a fair chance to compete.

It will be interesting to see whether India can assert its dominance in the upcoming Test against Afghanistan. After spending so much time playing the shorter formats, the players now face the unique challenge of Test cricket. There is also considerable excitement around Sai Sudharsan, who enters the match with high expectations, and fans will be eager to see whether he can continue his impressive run of form.
