Rohit and Kohli Likely to Miss ODI Series Against Afghanistan

Virat Kohli — just hearing this name is enough to excite cricket fans. Whenever Kohli steps onto the field, stadiums are packed with spectators eager to watch him play. Throughout his career, injuries have rarely kept him out of matches, and fans can count those occasions on their fingers. However, reports now suggest that Virat Kohli may miss the upcoming ODI series against Afghanistan, leaving his fans shocked and disappointed.

Kohli, who recently became a two-time IPL champion with RCB in IPL 2026, is reportedly set to miss the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, which is scheduled to begin on June 14. It is also being reported that he is currently on a tour of Europe. According to sources, Kohli suffered an injury during the IPL 2026 final. Despite playing a crucial innings in that match, he needed assistance from the team physiotherapist at one stage and continued batting with his leg strapped. The same hamstring injury is now reportedly troubling him, which could keep him out of the ODI series against Afghanistan.

Fans are already upset by these reports, as they have been eagerly waiting to see their favorite player back in the blue jersey. News of his possible absence has come as a major disappointment.

However, there has been no official announcement yet. Current reports indicate that the BCCI may choose to give Kohli some rest. Apart from Kohli, another senior player, Rohit Sharma, is also doubtful for the series. Rohit is reportedly suffering from a similar hamstring injury and had already missed a few matches during IPL 2026 because of it. So far, he has not received a fitness clearance certificate from the NCA (National Cricket Academy).

With both star players potentially missing the ODI series, fans are understandably concerned. It remains to be seen whether Kohli and Rohit can recover and prove their fitness before the series begins.
